Masih Family July 2010 Missions Update-Fruitful Labor In The Lord
FRUITFUL LABOR IN THE LORD
OUR LABOR IN THE LORD IS NOT IN VAIN: A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil? The man replied, “Sir, leave it alone for one more year, and I will dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down” (Lk. 13:6-9). In the beginning of the last year one of our team members said, ‘We have been coming to Deolsari for many years and we do not see any fruit, let us shake off the dust of our shoes and go to another villages’. I said that we should not stop going to Deolsari and we could go to other villages as well. And after one year we see fruit in Deolsari. We know that our labor in the Lord is not in vain.
THREE DAYS YOUTH CAMP IN MUSSOORIE: Like last year, we had a three day youth camp in June. Last year four boys and a girl gave their lives to the Lord and we wanted to give them further teaching of the Word this year. This year we had 14 participants. We had a wonderful time with these young boys and girls. On the third day of our camp, after my class I gave them the opportunity to make the decision and two girls accepted the Lord. They were in tears mixed with repentance and the joy of salvation. In the evening on the same day we had a camp fire. Every one of us was sitting around the fire and the participants were sharing their testimonies and one boy from Deolsari accepted the Lord right there. The boy’s name is Pradeep. He is studying in class 12. Pradeep is Rakesh’s friend. Rakesh had been sharing the gospel with him. Now he is saved
BARREN LAND TURNED INTO FERTILE LAND: Deolsari once seemed barren, but now it is turning out to be a fertile land. While sharing his testimony Rakesh said that when first our team gave the New Testaments to the village people, they took them by the stream and tore them up and burnt them in a fire. After doing this they came back to the village shouting and rejoicing. Once during the Christmas time the children of this village were given gifts. There were dolls and other things in the gifts. The village people said that there were evil spirits in those dolls and if they would keep them they would be possessed by them. So they burnt them as well. We did not know all these things until the last month when Rakesh shared these stories by the camp fire in Mussoorie. Now there are four believers in Deolsari and at least three girls (one of them is a teacher) are on their way to accept the Lord. Hari Kore, the old lady she says that she believes in Jesus and prays to Him only. Bison Dutt, before his death, had stopped worshipping idols and used to read the Bible and pray. We believe that the harvest is coming near.
SWEET AND SOUR: ‘He was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it’ (John. 12:6). In the three day youth camp we saw three youth committing their lives to the Lord and other people who accepted the Lord last year making decision to love the Lord and follow Him alone. Besides this sweet taste we had a sour taste too. One of the participants (don’t know who) was Judas. On the last day of our youth camp at night when we got ready to go home my backpack was missing. We searched everywhere and finally we found it at the back of the church, all it zippers were open and my camera missing. Judas being three years with the Lord did not change and so was this person being taught for these days about the fear of God and love of God did not change. We had to pay the price for the three souls that got saved. Those three souls are more precious than the camera. All the pictures for June were in my camera; therefore, I am not able to pass on any of the new pictures. Pray that this Judas may become Peter, repent and come to the Lord.
NEW WAY OF PRESENTING THE GOSPEL: We usually do the personal evangelism. This time since the summer team from the State is here, we planned to do something different. Two boys in this team are very good at playing the guitar. We decided to use this as a tool to share the gospel this time. We went to the villages and played guitars and sang songs. In one village we sat under a tree in the middle of the village and started playing guitars and singing songs and many boys and girls gathered together to listen and we taught them some action songs and Vinita told them the Bible stories. We were invited in by some families, where we played guitars and sang songs and share the Word.
FAMILY NEWS: Reuben and Aroma had holidays for fifteen days, so they went with us to these villages in Deolsari. It was a joyful experience to serve the Lord with the whole family. As Joshua says, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Aroma is to take the admission test to Grace Academy in Dehradun on July 5. We have not come up yet with any money for her. We got $50 which we have used to register her for the admission test. We need $3000.00 for one year. I talked to the Principal of Grace Academy and he said that he would split it for me in five or six installments. We could not send her to Woodstock School and even we are not sure if we will be able to send her to this school. We have to find a school for Reuben next year as well. He is in class 10 and the school he is in, is up to class 10 only. We do not know what God’s will is for us. Our children had free education in Chhattisgarh because Vinita was teaching in the same school. Is our ministry over here in Garhwal Mountains and God wants us to go back to Chhattisgarh? We have not heard from Him yet. Is He leading us through these circumstances? We don’t want to look back as Lot’s wife did. We submit to His will. But want to be sure before taking any steps. We moved to Mussoorie when I heard Him clearly in an audible voice. So we wait for His clear guidance.
Thank you for always being with us through your prayers and supports. God bless you.
Co-workers in Christ,
Pratim and Vinita
