Masih Family April 2010 Missions Update-India

“Pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ…Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.” (Col. 4:3, 4).

We are thankful to you all for your continuous prayers. The last month we had some new openings. We went to a new village and I had a new opportunity to share the gospel with the school teachers. The month of March began with celebration of a Hindu festival called ‘Holi’ (festival of colors). They throw color powders and color water on each other. This is the worst festival celebrated in India. People do all kinds of mischief and use bad words saying, “Boora na mano Holi hai” (don’t mind it is Holi).

The new village (Ladoor) we went to was three hours walk down the hill and back four hours up. While climbing down the steep hills my knees became loose and started shaking. I felt that any time I would fall, but the Lord helped me to reach this village. We were all so tired by the time we reached there. There were not many people in the village. We met a few people and shared the gospel with them. In this village there is a Christian school. We told Bible story’s and taught some Christian songs to the children. I asked the woman (the wife of the man who runs this school who was there) if I could talk to the teachers and she agreed. I shared the gospel with them and gave a copy of the New Testament to each one of them. Our legs’ muscles were sore the next day.

The next evening I received a phone call from the man who runs the school in that village. His wife told him about me sharing the gospel with the teachers and she liked it. The man asked me if I would like to share the Word with the teachers on the pay day when all teachers working in his schools come together for payment. He has four schools in different villages. The following Saturday was the pay day for his teachers. I had a very good time with them. They are non Christians. Since I am asked to share the Word every month I felt strongly that before sowing the seed I have to prepare the field. I talked with them that the Bible is history (fact) and the God of the Bible is the real God. I shared three points: 1) God began the history (He created the world), 2) God changed the history (by the birth of Jesus the history was divided into two, B.C. and A.D.) and 3) God will end the history (Jesus is going to come back). I read from the Bible about the signs of His return and restoration of Israel in Jerusalem. I asked if they had Bible, but no one had except the teachers whom I gave in the village Ladoor. I had taken with me only 5 New Testaments and they were about thirteen teachers. I kept the New Testaments on the table and told them that if they want they can take and they rushed for it. They have been teaching in Christian schools, but have never been given a copy of the NT. There is only one Christian teacher in these four schools, who has no personal experience of the Lord. Pray that I may be able to proclaim the mystery of the Lord clearly and these teachers may know the Lord as their personal Savior.

The women in Khattapani are getting more and more serious about the gospel. When the women team goes there they come with their NT and read it and give full attention when the Word is shared. This time one girl (Payal) did not have her NT and when asked what happened to her Bible, she told a very interesting story. She tells about Jesus to her friends in the school and one of her friends asked for a Bible and she gave the one she had to her. Vinita gave her another copy of the NT. Pray for the women in Khattapani and Payal’s friends. Young girls in Deolsari are also showing more interest to know the Lord. When we were there, they would come to our camp site and ask for books to read about Jesus. We were visited by so many young boys and girls. We told them Bible stories and talked to some of them personally about the Lord. We went into the forest with the boys who have accepted the Lord and had Bible study. Pray that all these boys and girls in Deolsari may know the Lord.

Lily’s husband always wanted to come to church, but due to pain in both legs could not come. He had hernia on both sides. Praise the Lord that this month he had a successful operation and he is recovering now. He is so excited that now when he is fully recovered he can come to church. Pray for his fast recovery. Two days iof the week Vinita, two other women and a brother hold literacy classes for the street kids. They teach them how to read and write and also tell them the Bible stories. These kids live by the road side in open tents. These children stink and have running noses. When they see Vinita on the road they run to her saying ‘madamji’ and hold her hands and want her affection. It is wonderful to show the love of Christ to these unloved kids.

Aroma has an admission test at Woodstock school on 14th April 2010. I mentioned in last month’s update the cost of education in this school. Will you prayerfully consider sponsoring Aroma for her studies in the Woodstock School? We trust God for all our needs. Thank you so much for your constant prayers and supports for our ministry in India. We know that because of you and His grace we are able to do the ministry here. We thank God for you all and your help. May the dear Lord richly bless you!

Co-workers in Christ,
Pratim and Vinita
