Brent Kaser-Promise Child Newsletter – March 2009

“For the PROMISE is for you and your CHILDREN
and for all who are far off,
as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”
Acts 2:39

As you know, Promise Child has been raising funds to help the people of Haiti after the devastating earthquake there. We are so very grateful for all of your generous donations that have allowed us to purchase much needed medicine and food for the Haitian people.

To date, Promise Child has raised over $18,000!!

Promise Child Sudan

Pastor Brent is currently in Haiti with pastors from several other churches. In addition to ministering to the people, they are establishing contacts and assessing the current needs.

There are many changes happening in Sudan right now.

From April 12th through April 16th, there will be elections in South Sudan for the first time in over 25 years! This will be the first time that the South Sudanese will be able to elect representatives for government offices since the war between North and the South Sudan. Our contact, James Nyika and his family, will be staying in Kenya during this time because there is a high probability of rioting in every town of South Sudan. Please pray for James and his family, along with the people of South Sudan during this time.

James Nyika has been witnessing to the Kachipo people of Sudan with exciting results. James has been asked by the tribal elders and two native missionaries to plant a permanent church among the Kachipo people! God is opening doors for the gospel to go out to these unreached tribes – thank you for your continued prayers for the people of Sudan.

The good news is that the rainy season has brought fresh water to the Taus Tribe! The bad news is that the children are not able to attend school when it rains. Please pray that we will be able to come alongside the Taus people and build some portable classrooms for the children so they can not only continue to go to school during rainy weather, but the classrooms will be movable when the tribe is relocated. Also, the missionary teachers have requested desks and a pit latrine for the themselves and the students. Please keep these requests in your prayers also.

Lastly, we have been working with James to find doctors and nurses to staff the medical clinic in the Taposa Tribe area. There is a nurse from Kenya and a doctor from America that are praying about spending at least six months at the medical clinic there. The need for a medical clinic is so great as there are no other facilities in the area and children are dying from treatable diseases.

Please pray that God will provide medical staff for this clinic as soon as possible.

Promise Child Nepal/India

Tonielle Antenesse, from Calvary Chapel WestGrove, is currently on a three-month missionary assignment in Nepal and India. She will be working with our contacts in both countries to help them update all of the Promise Children’s profile cards, interview and obtain profiles for new Promise Children, and help with administrative tasks.

Please pray for Tonielle to have God’s peace about her time in Nepal and that He will reveal His plan for her future.
