Our Calling

God has placed on our family’s hearts the calling to become full-time missionaries to Hungary and Slovakia. On the first short-term trip there, God gave us a love for the children. On our second trip, the Lord revealed that His will for us was to serve Him there. The Lord has given our family faith to apply Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (NIV)

After World War II (WWII), both Hungary and Slovakia were communist and controlled by the Soviet Union – therefore forbidden to worship God. Both became democracies just over a decade ago.
Esztergom, in northern Hungary, is a very beautiful, old city. The bridge connecting Esztergom with Sturovo, Slovakia was blown up in WWII. It was rebuilt in 2001, opening the opportunity to minister to both countries with the Gospel. The Lord continues to impress upon our hearts, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” Matthew 9:37b-38 (NIV).
Our mission is to minister to the children and their parents in Hungary & Slovakia, sharing the Good News of the Gospel. Having been rooted in youth and children’s ministry, our hearts’ desire deepened our longing to work with the kids in these communities. We are excited to share that we are the facilitators of Kids Club and Youth Groups in Sturovo, Slovakia and Esztergom, Hungary.  This club was established as a result of our first mission trip. We will be providing weekly devotions and instructing sports activities.  The Youth Group gathers once a month in our home for worship and bible study.  The kids in this area need a safe, fun environment in which they can learn about the Gospel.

A very important milestone unfolded in Kids’ Club ministry in February 2010.  It was determined that the nationals here in Esztergom, Hungary were now ready to take over the lead of the Kids’ Club ministry.  It is always the goal of a missionary to transition their ministry to the nationals when they are equipped and ready to continue the work, which the Lord has started.  In Ephesians 2:10 we are reminded that, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (NASB) As the nationals here continue the walk in the good work of the Kid’s Club ministry, we look forward to what the Lord has in store for our family in the future.

The Calling Expanded – Reconfirmed  with  a new direction

Missions Training Program – Calvary Chapel Bible College Europe

The MTP is a practical, hands-on program that has been designed to prepare those who believe God has called them into ministry on the foreign mission field.  Not only does the curriculum include Bible classes and a great deal of information on missions, but that information is then applied and demonstrated in practical ways through the various outreaches that we participate in over the course of the program.  We have already participated in a 10-day outreach and several weekend outreaches that have given us the opportunity to not only learn, but also experience some new aspects of ministry that has helped to further equip us as we continue to serve in the mission field.  We are looking forward to the upcoming 30-day outreach, as well as some additional weekend outreach opportunities during this final semester May 2012.

Some additional training that we are receiving through the Missions Leadership course includes topics on spiritual warfare, the importance of prayer, the different roles of a missionary, and challenges on the mission field.  We are also continuing our language studies and learning more about the cultures of the people we have been ministering to in Hungary, Slovakia, and now Serbia.  Please keep us in prayer as we seek clear direction on the next step in our venture of faith.  Also, pray that the Lord would grant us a greater burden for the lost, increase our desire to build up the body of Christ, and fill us with His boundless love for all those we minster to and serve.
